Leadership

Meet the Rabbi & Rebbetzin

Torchwood is led by Rabbi Chaim and Tzaitel Bucsko. Rabbi Bucsko grew up in Johns Creek, GA, unaffiliated with Judaism. In 2009, while studying at the University of Pittsburgh, he traveled to Jerusalem and stayed to enroll at Aish HaTorah. From there, he went to the Mir Yeshiva and various kollelim.

Rabbi Chaim and Tzaitel (born and raised in Glowno, Poland) met in Jerusalem, married and started a family. After 7 years together in Israel, TORCH invited them to come to Houston, TX to serve the Jewish community.

Today, they have four children and a great, big Torchwood family.

The Dream

What Torchwood was created for...

The days of having close relationships with your neighbors and a strong sense of community with the families on your block are all but gone. However, in Shabbos-observant communities it's alive and well.

What if a young Jewish couple looking to start a family wants that closeness, maybe even wants to learn more about Judaism and Shabbos, but the cultural barrier is too strong to overcome?

Torchwood provides the community without the requirement of fitting into a cultural box. We have many different types from many different backgrounds, and here we're all one family.

Along the way, you have the chance to learn and grow at your own pace.
